Summer babies are already pretty lucky. They do not have to worry about their birthday parties being overshadowed by major holidays, plus there is all that gorgeous weather! But July babies are especially lucky. According to some studies, July babies may have some advantages over the rest of us thanks to all that extra sunlight giving them vitamin D in their tender first months, which helps them to grow up healthier and even taller. Here are a few more fun facts about your July babe…

July babies’ horoscope sign is Cancer or Leo.

If your July baby is born between July 1 and July 22nd then they are a Cancer, which is the cardinal water sign and is represented by the crab. If your baby is born between July 23rd and 31st then he or she is a Leo.

More About Your Baby’s Cancer Zodiac Sign

Ruled by the moody moon, Cancers are compassionate, very sensitive, and loving…but watch out! Cancer babies tend to withdraw emotionally (so that’s Mom or Dad’s cue to give them lots of tools to learn how to cope with those big feelings). They’re thought to be natural nurturers (Cancer is considered to be the mother of the zodiac), so don’t be surprised if your July baby’s favorite toy is a doll or lovey they can tenderly care for. Little crabs are often homebodies who care deeply about their space (that means those special touches you put on the nursery for your July baby will be extra appreciated!).

More About Your Baby’s Leo Zodiac Sign

The sign of the bright and brazen sun, Leos are loyal, confident, and full of charisma, which is no doubt why the sign is represented by the regal lion. (Perhaps your cub will thrive in a toddler dance or music class someday!) And while Leos bask in the shiny spotlight of attention from others, they can get cranky when that light is moved away from them. That doesn’t mean your little Leo is going to be a diva—on the contrary, this sign is believed to be incredibly generous by nature (that bodes well for teaching sharing!).

    July babies have two flowers.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, July babies can enjoy the beauty and fragrance of not one but two special birth flowers; the larkspur and the water lily. The larkspur is said to symbolise the bonds of love and each colour larkspur has a special bonus meaning. For example, pink means fickleness, white signifies a happy disposition, purple symbolizes a first love, and blue is associated with grace. The second birth flower is the water lily, which is said to represent purity and majesty.

July babies have a valuable birthstone.

The ruby is prized for being the most valuable of all gemstones. In fact, it is held in such high regard that the ancient Hindus called it the 'king of gems.' As the king of gems, the ruby is said to signify passion, love, and success. Its name comes from Latin Rubeus, which means red.

July babies are as sunny as their birth month.

Science can tell us a lot about how people can grow and change over time. In one case, researchers were able to find a correlation between babies born in July and their outlook on life later on. It turns out that July babies have a higher rate of 'sunny dispositions' and a lower risk of developing mood disorders including depression as adults.

July babies tend to have great self-control.

July babies, according to a new study, have the greatest ability to self-regulate their emotional inner lives including controlling aggression like getting upset over losing a game or having a toy taken away from them. Sure, you will still have to deal with the toddler phase but—fingers crossed!—maybe for parents of July babies, it will not be so bad.

Your July baby may have an artistic streak.

Babies born in July are more likely to grow up to become artists, according to one UK census data report. Other occupations that were overwhelmingly made up of summer and July babies included train drivers and bricklayers.

July babies are more likely to be left-handed.

When your baby paints her first masterpiece, there is a good chance she will do it with her left hand, at least according to one study. The researchers found that babies who are born in July have a significantly higher chance of being born with a tendency toward being left-handed. As the old saying goes, 'Lefties: in great demand but limited supply!'

July babies are in some seriously awesome company.

Don’t know any friends or family born in July? That is okay, your little sun-kissed bundle of adorableness is still in some pretty impressive company. Celebrities who share a birthday with your little one include Liv Tyler, Kevin Hart, Olivia Munn, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, and even Princess Anna herself, Kristen Bell.

If you have any medical questions and concerns about your child or yourself, please contact your health provider. Breastmilk is the best source of nutrition for babies. It is important that, in preparation for and during breastfeeding, mothers eat a healthy, balanced diet. Combined breast- and bottle-feeding in the first weeks of life may reduce the supply of a mother's breastmilk and reversing the decision not to breastfeed is difficult. If you do decide to use infant formula, you should follow instructions carefully.
